Clark Paterson "Jethro" Gillies - Born April 7, 1954 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan – Died January 21, 2022 in Greenlawn, New York was a Canadian/American ice Hockey left winger.

Gillies made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders on October 9, 1974 vs Montreal Canadiens at The Forum in a 5-5 tie. He had 2 assists.

Gillies scored his 1st NHL goal vs Fern Rivard of the Minnesota North Stars on October 26, 1974 at 10:07 of the 1st period at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in a 4-0 Islanders win. His goal was the game winner.

Gillies played in 958 regular season NHL games, scoring 319 goals (44 GWG), 378 assists with 1025 penalty minutes and 164 NHL playoff games, scoring 47 goals (12 GWG / 1 OTG), 47 assists with 287 penalty minutes.

Gillies played in the NHL All-Star Game in 1978.

Gillies was selected to the NHL First All-Star Team in 1978, 1979.

Gillies played in the 1979 Challenge Cup with Team Canada..

Gillies was the New York Islanders captain from 1977 to 1979.

The Islanders retired Gillies No. 9 during a pregame ceremony at Nassau Coliseum on Dec. 7, 1996.

Clark Gillies was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
