John "Red" Beattie - Born October 2, 1906 in Ibstock, England – Died January 7, 1981 in Chemainus, British Columbia was a professional ice Hockey left winger.

Beattie played senior Hockey for the Edmonton Superiors from 1925 to 1928.

Beattie played his first pro Hockey for the Vancouver Lions in the Pacific Coast Hockey League / PCHL for two season from 1928 to 1930.

Beattie then joined the Boston Bruins, Playing in Boston from 1930 to 1937. Unfortunately for Beattie, he played almost every year between the two Boston Stanley Cup wins in 1929 and 39.

Beattie was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Gord Pettinger on December 19, 1937 but after playing just 11 games, he was traded to the New York Americans for Joe Lamb.

Beattie played 1 more season of pro Hockey with the Americans and the New Haven Eagles during the 1938-39 season, and retired at seasons end.

After retiring, Beattie returned to British Columbia, and played for the Vancouver Norvan Shipyards Hockey team in the 1941-42 Pacific Coast Senior Hockey Association season, and then
played some senior Hockey with army teams in Victoria and Vancouver in 1942-43.
