Thomas Gordon "Tom" Lowrey – Born October 22, 1893 in Brockville, Ontario – Died November 6, 1981 – was a Canadian amateur ice hockey forward and coach.
Tom Lowrey was a member of the big Lowrey Ottawa hockey family. Three of his brothers – Eddie, Fred and Gerry – played in the NHL for various of different teams and two other brothers – Frank and Bill – played with lower level teams in the Ottawa City Hockey League.
Tom Lowrey himself also represented Ottawa Stewartons, Ottawa Aberdeens and Ottawa Munitions.
Thomas G. Lowrey has a number of other claims to distinction. As one of the noted Lowrey brothers, who made a unique contribution to the world of amateur and professional hockey on both sides of the border. He is also an original director of the Ottawa Boys' Club and a pioneer of the managing editors' conference. As a city and managing editor, and initially as a reporter, he brought a quick intelligence and an all - out sense of dedication to the task in hand with the Ottawa Free Press and latterly The Ottawa Journal. Lowrey started his full-time newspaper career with the Ottawa Free Press in 1910.
Lowrey at one time was an official scorer with the Canadian Professional Baseball League.
