Game design: Slamm Hockey is played by four players vs four players. In each game, all the players are the same gender, either men versus men or women versus women. However, there is no restriction on the goalie’s gender and they can play the whole game without switching. During the game, the goalie can be substituted by a man or woman.
The puck flip: All the Slamm Hockey games start with a “puck flip” and the winner decides which team starts first, and the loser can decide who starts in the second half.
Contact: In a Slamm Hockey game, it is full contact. Women are allowed to check their opponents and be physical just like their male counterparts.
Shifts: If the players in Slamm Hockey want to play a shift, the team must change playing lines after a minute after the first whistle otherwise the shift time will expire. Without a whistle after 90 seconds of playtime, the referee has the right to judge the play as dead when the puck has been in the neutral zone.
Fight: The MLRH fighting rules are allowed here. Generally, a player is permitted one fight each game. If the player engages in a second fight during the same game then the player will receive a game misconduct if he is judged to be the instigator in the second fight
