The Gold Medal Game, Netherlands vs Germany, ended in a 1-1 tie, with goals scored by Thierry Brinkman of Holland and German Thies Prinz, both in the 4th quarter.

With the score tied after regulation, the game went to a shootout with each team getting five 8-second chances to score. Thierry Brinkman, Thijs van Dam scored before Duco Telgenkamp scored the golden goal, as goalkeeper Pirmin Blaak stopped three of four attempts, including one twice because of a retake.
