A exciting field Hockey game from start to finish, saw the Netherlands score 1st and last in the Gold Medal game. Maartje Paumen was dominant throughout the game for the Dutch, as she buried a corner early in the 44th minute, and then her trademark high & fast corner sealed the game away for the Dutch late in the game. Paumen's well executed penalty corner goal was also her fifth of the tournament, drawing the Netherlands' captain level with teammate Jonker as tournament top scorer.
Germany took the bronze medal defeating South Africa 6-2. Pietie Coetzee added to her World Record with her 241st goal in 245 test matches in the defeat.
