The Lionesses won their 5th Womens Hockey Champions Trophy, and 1st Championship at home.    The Gold Medal Game proved to be a real defensive battle for both teams, with not much opportunity for good scoring chances in the open field of play.

The Winning Goal resulted from a penalty corner. Argentina was pushing hard late in the 1st half and won 5 penalty corners, converting on the 5th attempt. Argentina provided a variation involving Noel Barrionuevo and Silvina D’Elia (29’) who opened the scoring. Great Britain won 1 penalty corner during the game.
