The Stanley Cup Championship was a best of 3 series between the Bruins and the defending Stanley Cup Champions New York Rangers. Game 1 on March 28, 1929 at Boston Garden saw the Bruins goalie Tiny Thompson shut out the Rangers 2 to 0. Game 2 on March 29, 1929 played at Madison Square Gardens in New York had the Bruins winning again, with Bill Carson scoring the Championship goal at 18:02 of the 3rd period, in a 2 to 1 victory. This was the first time in Stanley Cup history that two American-based teams met in the Final. The Boston Bruins win their 1st Stanley Cup.
