Bennett made his NHL debut with Calgary Flames on April 11, 2015 vs Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre in a 5-1 Jets win. He had 1 assist in the game.

Bennett scored his 1st NHL goal vs Eddie Läck of Vancouver Canucks at 2:14 of 2nd period on April 19, 2015 at Scotiabank Saddledome, a playoff game won by Calgary 4-2. His goal was the game winner.

Bennett scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Roberto Luongo & Al Montoya of Florida Panthers on January 13, 2016 at Scotiabank Saddledome in a 6-0 Calgary win. He had 4 goals in the game and his 1st goal was the game winner. He became the 3rd youngest player to score 4 goals in a NHL game.

Bennett set an NHL record for the most road goals in the 2025 NHL playoffs, scoring 13 times.
