Martin Joseph "Pat" Egan - Born April 25, 1918 in Blackie, Alberta - Died June 3, 2008 in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey was a Canadian ice Hockey defenceman, coach and general manager.

- Savage Cup Champion 1937 with Nelson Maple Leafs.

- O'Brien Trophy Champion 1946 with Boston Bruins, 1950 with New York Rangers.

- Calder Cup Champion 1961, 1962, 1963 with Springfield Indians (coach).

- F. G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy Champion 1960, 1961, 1962 with Springfield Indians (coach).

Egan made his NHL debut with New York Americans on November 9, 1939 vs Montreal Canadiens at Montreal Forum in a 2-0 Montreal win.

Egan scored his 1st NHL goal vs Mike Karakas of Montreal Canadiens at 7:06 of 1st period on March 2, 1940 at Montreal Forum in a 3-3 tie.

Egan scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Turk Broda of Toronto Maple Leafs on March 17, 1940 at Madison Square Garden in a 5-2 Americans win.

Egan played in 552 regular season NHL games, scoring 77 goals (7 GWG), 153 assists with 786 penalty minutes and 46 NHL playoff games, scoring 9 goals (1 GWG), 4 assists with 48 penalty minutes.

Egan played in NHL All-Star Game 1949.

As playing-coach of Providence Reds, Egan had to play goalie when Jean Marois couldn't fly from Montreal. Egan gave up 9 goals, including an AHL record six goals to Harry Pidhirny of Syracuse Warriors on November 21, 1953.

NOTE
Egan switched to #22 so that #2 could be retired to honour Eddie Shore before the 4th playoff game in Boston vs Montreal 1947.

Egan was coach of the Springfield Indians when they won 3 Calder Cups in a row, a feat never repeated to date.
