The Rochester Americans played a 72 game regular AHL season, winning 46, losing 21 with 5 ties, finishing first in AHL West Division.

In the 1966 AHL playoffs, Rochester defeated Quebec Aces 4 games to 2 and earned second round bye (semifinals).

In the championship series, Rochester defeated Cleveland Barons 4 games to 2, to win the Calder Cup.
