The Monarchs defeated the Saskatoon Wesleys 5–2, 5–6 and 6–1 in a best-of-three Abbott Cup championship.

The Monarchs then defeated the Copper Cliff Redmen for the Memorial Cup championship on April 17, 1937.
Games were played at Maple Leaf Gardens, with Copper Cliff winning the first game 4-3 in overtime. Winnipeg won game two in double overtime 6-5, then won game three 2-1. Winnipeg won the championship with a 7-0 win in game four.
