EditMark Steven Howe - Born May 28, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan is an American retired ice Hockey defenseman / left winger, video coach and scout.

Howe is the youngest player to win an Olympic medal in ice Hockey history (16 years old).

Howe played in the 1965 and 1966 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Detroit Roostertail team.
After playing for the Detroit Jr. Red Wings from 1970 to 1971, Howe would play 1 season with OHA Toronto Marlboros, helping them win the 1973 Memorial Cup championship.
The WHA Houston Aeros selected Howe in their draft in 1973 and he would join the team right away, helping them win the Avco World Trophy in 1974. Howe also won the Lou Kaplan Trophy as WHA Rookie of the Year 1973-74.
Howe and the Aeros would win the 1975 Avco Cup and finish as finalist in 1976.
Howe would be signed as a free agent by the WHA New England Whalers, helping them reach the 1978 Avco Cup final.
The WHA would merge 4 of their teams with the NHL in 1979, and the Whalers were one of the teams, but now called Hartford Whalers. They managed to keep Howe, while also signing his dad Gordie and brother Marty.
Mark Howe would make his NHL debut on October 11, 1979 vs Minnesota North Stars at Metropolitan Sports Center in a 4-1 Minnesota win.
Howe would score his 1st NHL goal vs Ron Grahame of Los Angeles Kings at 4:50 of 2nd period on October 19, 1979 at Springfield Civic Center in a 6-3 Hartford win.
The Whalers would trade Howe to Philadelphia Flyers in August, 1982 and Howe would play the next 10 seasons, helping them reach the Stanley Cup finals in 1985 & 1987.
Howe would finished his playing career with Detroit Red Wings 1992 to 1995, playing his final NHL game vs New Jersey Devils in game 2 of 1995 Stanley Cup finals.
Howe played in 426 WHA regular season games, scoring 208 goals, 196 assists with 198 penalty minutes and 75 WHA playoff games, scoring 41 goals, 51 assists with 34 penalty minutes.
Howe played in 929 regular season NHL games, scoring 197 goals (23 GWG), 545 assists with 455 penalty minutes and 101 NHL playoff games, scoring 10 goals (1 GWG / 1 OTG), 51 assists with 34 penalty minutes.
Howe played in 4 NHL All-Star Games 1981, 1983, 1986, 1988.
Howe holds the NHL record for most short-handed goals by a defenseman with 28.
Howe also holds many NHL records for a U.S. born defenseman.
Howe was elected to the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame in 2001.
Howe was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003.
In 2010, Howe was inducted into the World Hockey Association Hall of Fame as a member of "The Howe Family" (including Gordie, Mark, Marty, and Colleen Howe).
Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.
On March 6, 2012, the Philadelphia Flyers retired Mark Howe's #2 jersey.

Mark Howe, his father Gordie and brother Marty became the first father/son combination to play together in professional Hockey while playing for the Houston Aeros.
