Galt Arena Gardens in Cambridge (Galt), Ontario opened on January 20, 1922 with Galt vs Preston in a 5-0 Galt Terriers win.
Also known as the Shade Street Arena.

One of the oldest continuously-operating ice Hockey arenas in the world, and the oldest operating arena in Ontario.

Several ice Hockey arenas are older, including the Aberdeen Pavilion in Ottawa, built in 1898, and the Stannus Street Rink, of Windsor, Nova Scotia, built in 1897, but are no longer in operation for ice Hockey. The 1910 Boston Arena (Matthews Arena) in Boston is still in operation too, but was rebuilt after a fire destroyed it and then reopened a new one in 1921.

Galt had many famous teams play here, including the Galt Terriers, Galt Red Wings, Galt Rockets and Galt Black Hawks.

Legends Gordie Howe, Terry Swachuk, Bobby Hull, Normie Himes and Hilda Ranscombe played in this arena.
