Daniel "Alfie" Alfredsson - Born 11 December 1972 in Gothenburg, Sweden is a Swedish-Canadian retired ice Hockey right winger and current assistant coach.

Alfredsson made his NHL debut with Ottawa Senators on October 7, 1995 vs Buffalo Sabres at Civic Centre Arena in a 3-1 Buffalo win. He assisted on Ottawa's only goal.

Alfredsson scored his 1st NHL goal vs Mark Fitzpatrick of Florida Panthers at 6:02 of 3rd period on October 13, 1995 at Miami Arena in a 6-2 Florida win.

Alfredsson scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Sean Burke of Hartford Whalers on November 2, 1995 at Hartford Civic Center in a 5-0 Ottawa win. His first goal was the game winner.

Alfredsson played in NHL All-Star Games 1996, 1997, 1998, 2004, 2008, 2012. The 2012 game the team was called Team Alfredsson and he was captain.

Alfredsson played in 1246 regular season NHL games, scoring 444 goals (73 GWG / 6 OTG), 713 assists with 510 penalty minutes and 124 NHL playoff games, scoring 51 goals (11 GWG / 2 OTG), 49 assists with 76 penalty minutes.

Alfredsson holds the Senators' franchise records for goals (426), assists (682) and points (1,108) in 1,178 games played.

Alfredsson had his Ottawa Senators jersey No. 11 retired on December 29, 2016.

Alfredsson played for Sweden / Tre Kronor internationally 14 times and 92 games, scoring 32 goals, 42 assists with 74 penalty minutes. Alfredsson was named captain of Sweden for the first time at the 2012 IIHF World Championship.

Daniel Alfredsson was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2018.

Daniel Alfredsson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.

NOTE
Alfredsson scored the 1st shootout goal in NHL history on Ed Belfour of Toronto Maple Leafs on October 5, 2005 at Air Canada Centre in a 3-2 Ottawa win.

Alfredsson was the first European-born and trained captain to lead his team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2007.
