Recchi made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh Penguins on November 16, 1988 vs Toronto Maple Leafs at Maple Leaf Gardens in a 8-5 Toronto win.
Recchi scored his 1st NHL goal vs Pokey Reddick of Winnipeg Jets at 17:42 of 2nd period on January 20, 1989 at Winnipeg Arena in a 7-3 Winnipeg win.
Recchi scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Ron Tugnutt of Quebec Nordiques on November 18, 1991 at Quebec Coliseum in a 7-3 Pittsburgh win.
Recchi played in 1652 regular season NHL games, scoring 577 goals (91 GWG / 6 OTG), 956 assists with 1033 penalty minutes and 189 NHL playoff games, scoring 61 goals (11 GWG / 1 OTG), 86 assists with 93 penalty minutes.
Recchi played in NHL All-Star Games 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. NHL All-Star Game MVP 1997.
Recchi represented Canada 34 times, 7 games as a junior and 27 games as a senior.
Recchi was named "Kamloops Male Athlete of the 20th Century", and had a street named "Mark Recchi Way" in his honour in 2000.
Mark Recchi was inducted into British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.

Recchi holds the NHL record for being the oldest player to score in Stanley Cup finals (June 6, 2011) at 43 years, 126 days. He had 2 goals in the game, and led the Bruins in scoring during the finals (7 games - 3 goals, 4 assists).
Recchi also hold the Philadelphia Flyers record for most points in regular season with 123 (53 goals, 70 assists) in the 1992–1993 season.
