Charles Albert "Babe" Siebert - Born January 14, 1904 in Plattsville, Ontario - Died August 25, 1939 in Lake Huron, Ontario was a Canadian ice Hockey left winger, defenceman and *coach.

Siebert made his NHL debut with Montreal Maroons on November 28, 1925 vs Ottawa Senators, also scoring his 1st NHL goal vs Alec Connell at 1:10 of the 2nd period at Ottawa Auditorium in a 3-2 Ottawa win. He had both goals for the Maroons.

Siebert scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Jake Forbes of the New York Americans on March 17, 1926 at Madison Square Garden in a 5-3 New York win.

Siebert played in 594 regular season NHL games, scoring 140 goals (24 GWG / 3 OTG), 154 assists with 1002 penalty minutes and 53 NHL playoff games, scoring 8 goals (2 GWG), 8 assists with 64 penalty minutes.

After the 1938-39 NHL season, Siebert announced his retirement to become the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens. Siebert never had the opportunity to take up his new post. On August 25, 1939, while vacationing with his family and swimming with his daughters at Lake Huron, he drowned attempting to retrieve an inflatable tire they were playing with.

Babe Siebert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1964.
