The Bulldogs won the Allan Cup on home ice at Windsor Arena in front of 5,147 fans on April 26, 1963.
Bill Mitchell scored the championship goal in a 3-2 win, for a 4-1 best of 7 series championship.
Defenceman Walter Pawlyshyn was the only original remaining player from when Windsor’s first Bulldogs senior team was formed a decade earlier.
Windsor mayor Michael Patrick held a parade along Ouellette Ave. and feted the Allan Cup victors with a civic luncheon.
NOTE
Along with winning the above trophies as the top team in Canada, the Bulldogs also played the Soviet National Hockey Team that was touring Canada in November 1962, and were the only team to defeat the Soviets (8-2) in their 8 game tour.
