The Captain, Henrik Sedin selected team MVP prior to the game, scored the Presidents Trophy winning goal, as the Vancouver Canucks shut out the Edmonton Oilers 3 to 0 at Rodgers Arena. Sedin opened the scoring on a power play at 15:47 of the second period. It was Sedin's first goal in 23 games.
Sammy Pahlsson, scored his first goal in 14 games, and David Booth, scored his first in 11 for the Canucks. Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo made 17 saves for his fifth shutout of the season and also assisted on Booth’s goal. The Canucks outshot the Oilers 42-17
The 33-year-old Vancouver Canuck became the 16th goaltender in National League Hockey history to reach 60 shutouts, joining a rarefied group made up of almost wholly of Hall of Famers
The Canucks won the President's Trophy for the second straight season as they finished the 2011-12 campaign with a 51-22-9 record. By finishing first overall, the Canucks ensured themselves home-ice advantage in all Stanley Cup playoff rounds for which they qualify.
