The Union College Dutchmen claimed their first-ever NCAA title on Saturday April 12, 2014 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Junior defenseman and Philadelphia Flyers prospect Shayne Gostisbehere was named the Most Outstanding Player, posting a goal and two assists to lead Union College to the 7-4 victory over the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, and finished the game as a plus-7. Union did not score a goal without him on the ice.

Union College, a program with no athletic scholarships and with an enrollment of 2,241, has made two trips to the Frozen Four in the last two years.

Union College finished the season 32-6-4 and won the ECAC conference's regular-season and playoff championships.

Union College finished the season on a 17-game unbeaten streak and was the only team in the country to reach the 30-win plateau.
