International Ice Hockey Federation Shines With Many Championships at Stake

The German U20 national team accomplished what they labelled as “Mission: promotion” before the event. Germany earned a spot among the elite nations at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship in Ufa, Russia.
Germany qualified for next year’s top division after winning the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division I Group A it hosted in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
France won the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division I Group B in Poland and will move up to Group A next year. It’s the second straight promotion for “Les Bleus”
The Frenchmen, promoted from Division II last year, won four out of their five games – the game they lost was on Sunday against Poland after they had already secured first place
Ukraine won the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group A on home ice in Donetsk and will play in Division I Group B next year. Ukraine didn’t begin as strongly as expected when it needed a shootout to defeat underdog Korea 3-2 in the opener, but the home squad improved throughout the tournament and finished it with a next-to-perfect record.
