Under new coach Dan Ceman, Banská Bystrica win third straight championship in the Slovenská Extraliga, equaling the Slovakia record held by Kosice, champion between 2008 ad 2011.

Ceman had taken over the coaching duties at the start of the 2018-19 season from coach Vladimir Orszagh, now at Slovan Bratislava.

Banská Bystrica defeated HK Nitra 4 games to 1, winning the championship at their home arena infront of a sold-out fanbase.
