The first Try Hockey For Free Day will be Nov. 2, 2013, as part of Come Play Hockey Month. The second opportunity will occur March 1, 2014, during Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM.
Try Hockey For Free Day, supported by the NHL and its member clubs, is a program designed to provide youth hockey associations and local ice hockey rinks a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport.
Over 16,000 kids ages 4-9 tried hockey for the first time during last year’s events, and USA Hockey is looking to build on the excitement of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games to host a record number of participants this winter.

Try Hockey For Free Day will be Saturday, November 2rd and is part of Come Play Hockey Month. This program, designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport, is a joint-effort between USA Hockey, the National Hockey League and NHL member clubs.
The goal is to have 500 locations host a try hockey for free clinic for kids between the ages of 4 to 9.With youth sports wrapping up, this event provides local associations the perfect opportunity to introduce new families to youth hockey.

Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, will be highlighted by Try Hockey for Free Day on Saturday, March 1, 2014. This is a national effort to have more than 500 local rinks and association introduce kids between the ages of 4 and 9 to youth hockey. Participating host locations will receive jerseys, promotional items, marketing tools, USA Hockey sanctioning and online registration to maximize participation.
We want to capitalize on the excitement and broad exposure of the Olympic Games. The last post-Olympic season (2010-11) had a 15% increase in new 8 & under players. This was the largest increase in new players in the past 15 years.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY WEEKEND
October 12th & 13th, 2013
USA Hockey is looking for associations and rinks to host opportunities to build awareness, celebrate your current players and grow participation for girls’ hockey as part of the IIHF Girls’ Hockey Weekend. To participate, there are four different events host sites can utilize; try hockey for free, cross-ice jamboree, season kick-off party or create an original event to celebrate local female hockey players.
