The Phoenix Roadrunners played a 72 game regular WHL season, winning 37, losing 26 with 9 ties and finished 1st in WHL standings.

In the 1973 WHL playoffs, the Roadrunners defeated San Diego Gulls 4-2 in games in semifinals and then Salt Lake Golden Eagles 4-0 in championship finals, winning the Lester Patrick Cup.
