EditKingston, Ontario native brothers Herbert Secord "Herb" Clarke (1887–1938), and Harold Metcalfe "Hal" Clarke (1885–1924), wearing sweaters of the Kingston Beechgrove Frontenacs junior OHA (Ontario Hockey Association) team.
The two Clarke brothers were members of the Kingston Beechgrove Frontenacs when the team won the junior OHA championship in 1903–04, and later also members of the University of Toronto seven which won back-to-back CIAU (Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union) championships in 1906–07 and 1907–08.
Harold Clarke was a defenceman, on the cover point position, whereas his younger brother Herbert was a centre forward and a prolific goal scorer. Herb Clarke would later play professionally for Cobalt in both the Temiskaming Hockey League and in the National Hockey Association (NHA), whereas Harold had a short stint with the New York Athletic Club.
Harold and Herbert had an older brother, Charles Marshall "Charlie" Clarke (1881–1940), who was also a prominent amateur hockey player in Canada and the United States between 1899–1911.
The three Clarke brothers were sons of Dr. Charles Kirk Clarke (1857–1924), a psychiatrist who was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto.
