Hockey on Icycles 1958

South Gate Arena - Gardena, California

Tires are studded with guards around wheels.

The game of Hockey is played by Ictycles, and consists of four 15 minute periods. One point is scored for each goal and average points per game is around 50.

A puck is used as in regular Hockey, except that it's in the form of a donut shaped rubber ring which the players try to kick along as they ride. The idea is to kick the ring into the goal with the left foot only.

The Icycles may not be used to block an opponent's kick, if so a foul is called and the opponent gets a free shot, Three fouls in any one period, expels the rider for that quarter.

A free goal scores two points, a foul shot one point.

The goals are marked off at opposite corners of the arena, each guarded during play by a goalie. Should the puck be near the goal area, a goalie may place his foot on it and call a "kill", and the puck is returned to the center of the rink.

Should a player dismount during play, time is called, with a maximum of three timeouts per period being allowed. Disciplinary action results from personal fouls, foul language and unnecessary roughness.
