John "Maddy" Madden - Born May 4, 1973 in Barrie, Ontario is a Canadian retired ice Hockey centre, scout and coach.

- Sutherland Cup Champion 1993 with Barrie Colts.

- NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Champion 1996 with Michigan Wolverines.
Madden set the NCAA record for most career shorthanded goals with 23 over 4 seasons, as well as the single-season record of 10 shorthanded goals.

- Stanley Cup Champion 2000, 2003 with New Jersey Devils, 2010 with Chicago Blackhawks.

- Prince of Wales Trophy Champion 2000, 2001, 2003 with New Jersey Devils.

Madden made his NHL debut with New Jersey Devils on January 6, 1999 vs New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in a 5-2 Devils win.

Madden scored his 1st NHL goal vs Brian Boucher of Philadelphia Flyers at 8:47 of 3rd period on October 30, 1999 at First Union Center in a 5-3 Flyers win.

Madden scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Garth Snow and Jean-Sébastien Aubin of Pittsburgh Penguins on October 28, 2000 at Mellon Arena in a 9-0 Devils win. He had 4 goals in the game.

Madden played in 898 regular season NHL games, scoring 165 goals (24 GWG / 2 OTG), 183 assists with 219 penalty minutes and 141 NHL playoff games, scoring 21 goals (4 GWG / 1 OTG), 22 assists with 26 penalty minutes.

Madden was regarded during his career as one of the league's best defensive forwards; he was awarded the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2001, and finished second in voting 2003, 2004 and 2008.

John Madden was inducted into the Dekers Hall of Fame in 2017.
