NOTE
This was the final season of Amateur Hockey Association of Canada / AHAC, as during their annual meeting in December, 1898 there were accusations of players being paid by a new team that was admitted into the AHAC (Ottawa Capitals) for the 1899 season, which resulted in the withdraw of Quebec Bulldogs, Montreal Victorias, Ottawa Senators and Montreal AAA, which then went on to form the Canadian Amateur Hockey League / CAHL, later adding the Montreal Shamrocks. The new league was then approved by the Stanley Cup trustees at the top league in Canada to compete for the Stanley Cup.
