Iginla made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames on April 21, 1996 vs Chicago Black Hawks at Olympic Saddledome in a 7-5 Chicago win. Iginla had 1 assist.

Iginla scored his 1st NHL goal vs Ed Belfour of the Chicago Black Hawks at 5:53 of the 2nd period on April 23, 1996 at Olympic Saddledome in a 2-1 Chicago win in 3rd overtime period.

Iginla scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Jussi Markkanen of the Edmonton Oilers on February 7, 2003 at Skyreach Centre in 4-3 Calgary win.

The Akinsdale Arena in St. Albert was renamed the Jarome Iginla Arena in 2019
