Antique Leather Lacrosse Ball
Painted blue, black and red.
Probably deerskin.
Originated from the Shawano County; Wisconsin area.
Early lacrosse balls were made of materials such as intestine or the skin (leather) of an animal, rawhide, gut or wood, but varied depending on where the game was played. The ball was noted as being shaped more like a turkey’s egg than round.
