The Muskegon Reds (1935-1938), who played in the Michigan-Ontario Hockey League / MOHL folded after the 1937-38 season, becoming the Muskegon Sailors, playing as a independent team during the 1938-39 season before rejoining the MOHL for the 1939-40 season.

Home games were played at the Muskegon Mart Auditorium on the Muskegon Lake Docks (Mart Docks), near the Goodrich Ferry dock.
Locals called it The Mart.

The NHL Chicago Black Hawks used the Mart Auditorium for their training camp in the late 1930s.
