French ice hockey team Sporting Club de Lyon in 1903–04. The club was one of two premier ice hockey clubs in France during the first decade of the 20th century, the other club being Club des Patineurs de Paris. SC Lyon played its home games at the Palais de Glace de Lyon (Lyon Ice Palace).
The star player on the team was Albert Kimmerling (1882–1912) who had French and Swiss background. Kimmerling was a pioneer aviator and flew the first aircraft on the African continent when he managed a Voisin biplane from East London, South Africa on December 28, 1909.
On June 9, 1912, less than two weeks from his 30th birthday, Kimmerling crashed in Mourmelon, France while test flying a Sommer monoplane and lost his life.
