The carnival was held from January 23 to January 28, 1883 in Montreal, Quebec.

Three Hockey teams competed - McGill University, Montreal Victorias and the Quebec HC.

McGill and Quebec teams contested the championship trophy and McGill won the tournament.
The trophy for this tournament is on display at the Musee McCord Museum in Montreal.
