Antique Ice Polo Stick - Stamped Boston Rink on the side of the stick.
Sticks like this one were used by Ice Polo players in the mid 1880s to late 1890s, and we believe that this is a Ice polo stick, as the Roller Polo sticks of that period mostly had a hole drilled through the top part of the handle or had been wrapped in leather to accommodate a strap that went around the players wrist, so they would not drop the stick.
Boston was known for being "The Home of Ice Polo"
Since there were no covered rinks in Boston, and the first rink in Boston was built in 1910 - The Boston Arena, most games were played on Franklin Park, or a flooded lot behind the Boston City Hospital.
