The Spokane Chiefs played an 72 game regular WHL season, winning 48, losing 23 with 2 ties, finishing 2nd in WHL West Division.

Ray Whitney led the WHL in scoring with 67 goals, 185 points.

In the playoffs, the Chiefs defeated Seattle (5-1), Kamloops (5-0) and Lethbridge (4-0) to win the WHL President's Cup.

The Chiefs then played 4 games in the 1991 Memorial Cup championship, defeating Drummondville (7-3), Chicoutimi (7-1), Sault Ste. Marie (8-4) and Drummondville 5-1 in championship game.

Pat Falloon won the 1991 Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as MVP.
