John Chester "Red" Porter - Born January 21, 1904 in Beckwith, Ontario - Died August 6, 1997 in Toronto, Ontario was a Canadian ice Hockey defenceman and coach.

J. Ross Robertson Cup Junior finalist 1923 with University of Toronto Schools.

- J. Ross Robertson Cup Senior Champion 1927 with University of Toronto Grads, 1929, 1930 with University of Toronto Sr (coach).

- Allan Cup Champion 1927 with University of Toronto Grads.

- 1928 Winter Olympics Gold Medal Champion with University of Toronto Graduates / Varsity Blues.
Porter was Canada's opening-ceremonies flagbearer.

- World Ice Hockey Champion 1928 with University of Toronto Graduates / Varsity Blues.

- Queen's Cup Champion 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929 (coach) with Toronto Varsity Blues.

Porter turned to coaching at the University of Toronto after returning from the Olympics. He guided the senior team to J. Ross Robertson Cup Senior championships in 1929 and 1930.

John Porter was inducted into the University of Toronto Hall of Fame in 2004.

John Porter was inducted into the University of Toronto Schools / UTS Hall of Fame in 2021.

NOTE
Porter is holding the 1928 World Ice Hockey Championships Trophy, which was also awarded, as the Winter Olympic Champions were also considered World Champions too.
