EditRodney Cory "Rod" Langway - Born May 3, 1957 in Taipei, Taiwan is an American retired ice Hockey defenseman and coach.
Langway was born to a US military family in Taipei, Taiwan, and is the only NHL player to have been born there. He grew up in Randolph, Massachusetts.

Langway made his NHL debut with Montreal Canadiens on October 11, 1978 vs Minnesota North Stars at Montreal Forum in a 5-2 Canadiens win.
Langway scored his 1st NHL goal vs Greg Millen of Pittsburgh Penguins at 6:44 of 1st period on November 23, 1978 at Montreal Forum in a 8-4 Canadiens win.
Langway was traded to Washington Capitals on September 9, 1982, becoming their team captain for the 1982-83 NHL season.
Langway played in 994 regular season NHL games, scoring 51 goals (9 GWG), 278 assists with 851 penalty minutes and 104 NHL playoff games, scoring 5 goals (1 GWG / 1 OTG), 22 assists with 97 penalty minutes.
Langway played in NHL All-Star Games 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986.
Langway was selected to NHL First Team All-Star 1983, 1984.
Langway was selected to the 1984 Canada Cup First Team All-Star.
Langway represented the United States 23 times, scoring 1 goal, 5 assists with 26 penalty minutes.
Langway's jersey number /#5 was retired by the Washington Capitals on November 26, 1997.
