Jacques Plante wearing a early version of his Fibrosport Bar Mask in 1962 - It was also known as the Pretzel Mask.
Bill Burchmore made the 1st masks for Jacques Plante that started with the "Phantom Mask", which was the first mask Jacques Plante wore in a NHL game in December, 1959.
Burchmore also developed the 1st pretzel style mask made of wound yarn of fiberglass, which increased comfort and ventilation.
Jacques Plate would soon establish Fibrosport, a company based in Magog, Quebec where he would produce his own masks of high-impact fiberglass and epoxy resin.
