In 1952, Canadian Defence Minister, Brooke Claxton ordered 100 sets of Hockey equipment be sent to Korea for servicemen to use for games of Hockey on the Imjin River, which was near the front lines of the war. Here the soldiers had already scraped together old skates and sticks that they were using to play Hockey on the river. Now they had real equipment where games could be play for moral between soldiers. At one point there was a championship that was played of the 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade, where the 1st Battalion of the Princess Pats defeated the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment. HERE is some actual film footage of ice Hockey being played on the Imjin River in Korea
