Icing in ice hockey happens when a player shoots the puck crosswise over both the red line and the restricting group’s objective line without the puck going into the net. In the event that any player touches the puck after it passes the red line the icing is waved off. When icing happens, a linesman stops play. Play is continued with a faceoff in the protecting zone of the group that conferred the infraction. |
