One of Gene Carr’s best friends was Glenn Frey of the legendary band, the Eagles.Glen Frey apparently wrote the Eagles’ hit New Kid In Town about Carr, a newcomer to L.A. Frey became friends with Carr, who had been traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 1974. The song was written with J.D. Souther in 1976. Frey sometimes wore Carr’s #12 jersey while on stage. Glenn used to call me ‘Hockey Hollywood’ said Carr.
