Montreal Canadiens Frank Mahovlich scored his 500th NHL goal on March 21, 1973, against Dunc Wilson of the Vancouver Canucks at the Montreal Forum in a 3 to 2 victory for the Canadiens.

Mahovlich became the fifth NHL player to score 500 goals.

Mahovlich was honored for the achievement on Nov. 28, 1973, when the Montreal Canadiens held "Frank Mahovlich Night" at the Montreal Forum, and he delighted the fans by addressing them in both English and French.
