Charlie Liffiton [1878–1941] was born in Montreal and represented several amateur, semi-professional & fully professional ice hockey clubs in Canada and in the United States between 1896–97 and 1907–08, among them Montreal Hockey Club, Pittsburgh Bankers, Portage Lakes Hockey Club, Montreal Wanderers & Toronto Professionals.

Charlie Liffiton had two younger brothers that were also prominent within the amateur & professional ice hockey circles in Canada and in the United States. Artie Liffiton [1881–1954] played for the Brooklyn Skating Club and the Brooklyn Crescents, two amateur clubs in the American Amateur Hockey League, between 1899 and 1916, while Ernie Liffiton [1885–1949] represented clubs like the Pittsburgh Professionals, Montreal Wanderers, All-Montreal, Renfrew Creamery Kings, Halifax Crescents & Toronto Tecumsehs.
