Sketch of Sanford S. Stoddard [1877–1952], captain of the 1898–99 Yale University Hockey Team. Stoddard also played on the 1896–97 & 1897–98 Yale University teams, as well as with the St. Nicholas Hockey Club in the American Amateur Hockey League in the 1901–02 season, when he scored 10 goals in 8 games for the green shirted Manhattan club.

Sanford Stoddard's younger brother Henry Budington Stoddard [1880–1953] also played hockey with Yale University and also, briefly, with the St. Nicholas Hockey Club.
