"One more year" "One more year" Last's "One more year"

Teemu Selanne will return for a 19th season. Selanne agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract to return to the Ducks on Thursday after the 41-year-old right wing decided his surgically repaired knee will hold up for his 19th NHL season. He finished eighth in the league last season with 80 points, the third-best season in league history for a player past his 40th birthday.

“Hi guys. You guys knew I can’t stop playing yet. So I’m back at least one more season. My middle name is ‘One More. ’ And we start the season in Helsinki so I’ll see you there. ”

Teemu “One Year” Selanne… Definitely goes well together

Last season was pretty special for Selanne. Down the stretch of the regular season, he became one of the most important pieces in the Ducks' surge to the Western Conference playoffs. He scored 80 points in just 73 games last season, 20 of which came in the final 16 games of the year.

"I really feel like I can still play at the same level I played at in the past," Selanne said. "If you can't do that, you can't enjoy the game as much, and there would be no way I'd come back. The main factor for me is that I can be healthy, my knee is OK to play at this level, and I can use my speed and play at my level." Selanne Described This "Unbelievable" He was talking about the chance to play in his native Finland — where the Ducks open their regular season — and later in Winnipeg — where he spent the first three-plus years of his NHL career.

He called both opportunities “bonuses for me. ”

Selanne said on a conference call with reporters Thursday that he didn't consider a return to Winnipeg with the new Winnipeg Jets, even though they did call him this offseason to gauge his interest. The Ducks will play in Winnipeg on December 17. That'll be must-see TV.

Remembering Ripper

Former Vancouver Canucks tough guy Rick Rypien was found dead in his home Crowsnest Pass, Alta on August 15 2011. Rick Rypien's cause of death has not been determined to the general public yet.

Rypien had just one assist in nine games with the Vancouver Canucks last season after leaving the team because of personal issues. It was the second time in three years Rypien left the team to deal with undisclosed personal matters. Although the Canucks did everything they could to protect Rypien’s privacy, it was widely believed he suffered from severe mental illness and was seeking treatment."Rick has been a beloved member of the Canucks family for the past six years. Rick was a great teammate and friend to our players, coaches and staff," the Canucks said in a statement. "We send our deepest condolences to the Rypien family at this most difficult time."

"It's a personal matter, a rare issue," Rypien told reporters in Winnipeg in March. "Even though it has taken me away from hockey and the game I love, doing the work I've done the last couple of months I've made a lot of gains as a person. I really believe that's only going to benefit my on-ice performance now and make me whole."

Rypien is the second NHL fighter to die this offseason. New York Rangers heavyweight Derek Boogaard passed away in May because of an accidental mix of alcohol and the painkiller oxycodone.

Rypien signed a one-year deal with the Jets in July worth US$700,000 after posting nine goals, seven assists and 226 penalty minutes over 119 career games with the Canucks.

RIP Rick Rypien You will be missed.

Where the 'H.E. Double Hockey Sticks' did he come from?

Who would have thought that it would be Daniel Sedin VS Steven Stamkos? Not Crosby VS Ovechkin. Beginning of the season it was all about Taylor or Tyler not Couture or Skinner. Who would have thought that after giving up a 3-0 lead in the playoffs a year before could Land you the Stanley cup the year after? That is the beauty of the National hockey league, where predicating is nothing but fun, to me these were the most surprising players of the year.

	5. Corey Perry

Corey Perry grabbed our Heart, and by that I mean he really did grab our Hart. Perry's start of the season didn't go as well as he hoped, but he made up for it by coming out big in the second half of the season, finishing with 50 goals and 48 assists. Anaheim Ducks moved from 11th to 4th spot in a span of 16 games where Perry scored 19 goals. Ducks went from not making playoffs to gaining home Ice advantage. Even with big names like, Daniel Sedin and Martin St. Louis Corey Perry Won the Hart.

	4. Steven Stamkos

Goalies know it’s coming, they know it is... But they still can’t stop it why? Because it’s 104 MPH the one timer goalies are afraid to face. Yes that’s right Steven Stamkos is our 4th most surprising players of the year, With an UNBELIEVABLE year finishing with 91 points. This 21 year old Canadian learned at a young age that “You don’t have to be the biggest guy to have the hardest shot” For Stamkos The most important thing is Accuracy, and we can all see that by the way he shoots and scores.

	3. Jeff Skinner

Former Kitchener Ranger Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes proves himself as NHL's youngest player is there Best rookie. Skinner finished his season with 31 Goals and 32 assists. Who would have thought that between Taylor Hall, and Tyler Seguin, Jeff Skinner would come up on top at just 18 years of age (turned 19 in May).Skinner led all rookies in scoring with 63 points during Regular Season where he was selected to the all-star team.

	2.Teemu Selänne

Like wine; the older the better. That’s Selanne for you. At 40 years old he seems to be pretty fit with his legs moving great and ending the season with 80 points. Selanne gets better every year like he’s getting younger; when he scores he celebrates like a rookie scoring his first goal of the NHL, not a Veteran scoring his 300th goal. Ever since the Ducks won the cup back in 06-07, Selanne has considered retirement, and his future in NHL is unsure. Every year fans chant "one more year"" and every year he comes back and dominates The ageless wonder has you wondering every year if he’s going to be back or not.

	1.Dustin Byfuglien

Not only can this guy play defense, but he can also be a forward, as seen with the Chicago Blackhawks, which resulted in a huge impacted in the 2010 playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup Championship. He’s now playing for the Atlanta Thrashers (Winnipeg Jets) who we all know isn’t the best team out there but finishing with 20 goals and 33 assists was something no one expected and is quite impressive. He had a great year and is helping a team who hasn’t achieved much since entering the league.

We all knows guys like Skinner, Couture, Eberle, Hall etc will be the future of NHL, but we don't expect them to get as many points as they have. Lets all be realistic hear, who thought Selanne would get 80 points? or Corey would win Hart? These guys surprised me the most this year. Honorable mentions go out to; Logan Couture, Patrick Sharp, Louie Eriksson, and Lubomir Visnovsky. A great season was followed by some great players. Who says it always has to be between Crosby and Ovechkin, this league is full of all-stars and it’s been proven.
